The piece features three QR codes accompanied by the provocative prompt: “Choose your future. No more secrets! Pick one, scan, and find out.” This call to action mimics the allure of choice in the digital world, inviting participants to explore.

Scanning any QR code, however, leads to the same stark message displayed on a black background: “The future is f*cked.” This unifying conclusion subverts the illusion of diverse options, highlighting how digital advancements can create a homogenized, dystopian reality. The project critiques the potential erosion of genuine human connection and diversity, challenging participants to question the value of virtual environments versus the richness of real-world experiences.

Through its blunt, impactful message, Scan your future explores the consequences of embracing a fully virtual existence. It invites reflection on the balance between technological progress and preserving authentic human interaction, urging viewers to consider the implications of prioritizing digital life over physical reality.

This installation is part of Forms of Communication, an exhibition commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Department of Fine Arts and the 30th anniversary of New Bulgarian University. The showcase celebrates the creative achievements of faculty members, marking a vibrant future for the arts within the university.
